Our Beliefs
|
-
We believe that the Bible,
both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and
inerrant Word of God; and that it is the complete
revelation of His will for the salvation of mankind;
and that it is authoritative for the lives of
believers; and that it has Christ as its focal
point, who is Himself the centerpiece of divine
revelation.
-
We believe that there is only
one true and living God, who is the Creator,
Sustainer and Ruler of all that exists; and that He
is perfect and holy; and that He is revealed in
scripture as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the divinity of
the Lord Jesus Christ, that He existed in eternity
past, that He was born of a virgin, that He lived a
sinless life on earth, that He performed actual
miracles, that he died a vicarious and atoning
death upon the cross, that his shed blood remits the
sin of true believers, that he was bodily
resurrected, that he ascended back to the right hand
of God the Father, that He shall appear to receive
the church as his bride, and that he shall return to
reign in power and glory.
-
We believe that personal
salvation is obtained by the grace of God, through
the persevering faith of the individual in the
atoning work of Christ upon the cross; and that such
persevering faith results in accepting Him as
personal Lord and Savior; and that salvation begins
with repentance, belief in the heart and confession
with the mouth; and that its outcomes include
justification (being reconciled to God),
sanctification (the process of being cleansed from
sin and being brought to maturity in the faith), and
glorification (the final state of redeemed persons
when we shall ever be in the presence of God).
-
We believe in the Baptism of
the Holy Spirit, as an event of spiritual
empowerment for the purpose of being able to live
the Christian lifestyle and put forth an effective
witness.
-
We believe that the Biblical
gifts of the Spirit are available and functional in
the body of Christ, for the edification (building
up) of the church.
-
We believe that the true
church is characterized by the Lordship of Jesus
Christ, the authoritativeness of the Word of God,
and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the resurrection
of the dead – the saved to everlasting life with
God, and the lost to eternal damnation in hell.
-
We believe that healing of the
mind, body and spirit is available through the
prayer of faith and in accordance with the will of
God.
-
We believe in the importance
of fellowship within the body of Christ; and that
all believers should join and assemble regularly
with a local church for mutual edification, and
financial support of the work of God through tithes
and offerings.
-
We believe in Water Baptism
and Communion as ordinances of the church – that
water baptism soon after professing salvation serves
as public testimony that a person has died to sin
and arisen to new life in Christ – that communion is
the symbolic and solemn celebration of our Lord
having paid the price for our redemption in the
shedding of his blood.
